Texas Holdem

The undisputed heavyweight champion of modern poker games, Texas Holdem is a deceptively simple game whose rules can be learnt in just a few hands.

Holdem is the game of choice for millions of poker players around the world. Its biggest tournaments offer the greatest prize pools in any event of any sport on the planet. If you watch poker on TV, or see it played in the movies, the chances are you’ll be watching Texas Holdem.

If you’re reading this section, you’ll probably already know the format, you are dealt two hole cards, which are for your eyes only, and then after a round of betting, three ‘community cards’ are dealt into the middle. This is the flop.

Once a round of betting has been completed a fourth card is dealt (called ‘the turn’) and then after another round of betting a fifth card, known as ‘the river’ or ‘fifth street’. The game is concluded after a final round of betting.

The aim of the game being to make the best five card poker hand, from the maximum of seven cards on display (your two, plus the five community cards).

The game is an absolute doddle to learn, and if you have never played it before, a game that can be picked up in seconds.

Texas Holdem has the widest range of limits we offer, you can play Texas Holdem for as little as a few pence, right up to hundreds or thousands of pounds per hand.

Limit; where betting is restricted by the size of the big blind. Limit Holdem is ideal for beginners, where the bets are carefully structured and you have no risk of being under pressure from a big stack bullying you. Limit Holdem is often considered to be the purest form of Holdem.

Pot Limit; where it’s restricted by the size of the pot,

No Limit, where your bets are only limited by the size of your chip stack.

It’s No Limit Holdem that allows the drama of the all-in raise, surely the most spectacular play of any card game and just one of the reasons for the game’s global popularity.
