Genting Casinos Card Room Rules
Circus Casino, Star City
- Card room personnel are to consider the best interests of the game and fairness as the top priority in the decision-making process. Unusual circumstances can on occasion dictate the decisions in the interest of fairness take priority over the technical rules. The Card Room Supervisors decision is final.
- When it is time to ‘colour-up’ chips, they will be raced off with a maximum of one chip going to any player. The chip race will always start in the No 1 seat. A Player cannot be raced out of a tournament: a player who loses his or her remaining chip(s) in a chip race will be given one chip of the smallest denomination still in play. Players are encouraged to witness the chip race.
- The odd chip(s) will go to the high hand. In flop, games when there are two or more high hands or two or more low hands the odd chip(s) will go to the left of the button. In stud games, the odd chip will go to the high card by suit. However when hands have identical value the pot will be split as evenly as possible.
- Each side pot will be split separately.
- Once a reasonable amount of time has passed and a clock is called for, a player will be given a maximum of 1 minute to make a decision. If action has not been taken before the time expires, there will be a 10 second countdown. If a player has not acted by the time the countdown is over, the players hand will be dead.
- Tournament play will use a dead button. This occurs when a player has been eliminated, the button will move along as though there is still a playing position. This keeps the order of small blind & Big blind consistent.
- A Player must be at his or her seat by the time all the players have been dealt complete initial hands in order to have a live hand. Players must be at their seat to call time.
- All cards will be turned face up once a player is all-in and all betting action is complete.
- If a player puts in a raise of 50% or more of the previous bet but less than the minimum raise, he or she will be required to make a full raise. The raise will be exactly the minimum raise allowed. In no-limit and pot-limit, an all-in bet of less than a full raise does not reopen the betting to a player who has already acted.
- A single oversized chip will be considered a call if the player does not announce a raise. If a player puts an oversized chip into the pot and states raise but does not state the amount, the raise will be the maximum allowable up to the size of the chip. After the flop, an initial bet of a single oversized chip without comment will constitute the size of the bet. To make a raise with a single oversized chip a verbal declaration must be made before the chip hits the table surface.
- Tournament and satellite seats will be randomly assigned.
- The English only rule will be enforced during the play of hands.
- A player may not use a cellular phone, text-messaging or other communication device at the table.
- Deck changes will be prescribed by the house. Players may not ask for deck changes.
- When time has elapsed in a round and a new level is announced by a member of the tournament staff, the new level applies to the next hand. A hand begins with the first riffle.
- A Player may not miss a hand. If a player announces the intent to re-buy before the new hand begins, the deal must be paused to allow that player to purchase the required chips and is obligated to make the re-buy.
- Players must keep their high denomination chips visible at all times.
- Verbal declarations as to the content of a player’s hand are not binding; however, any player deliberately miscalling his or her hand may be penalized.
- No rabbit hunting is allowed.
- A player who intentionally dodges (a) blind (s) when moving from a broken table will incur a penalty.
- All chips must be visible at all times. Players may not hold or transport tournament chips in any manner that takes them out of view. A player who does will forfeit the chips and will face disqualification. The forfeited chips will be taken out of play.
- Players going from a broken table to fill seats assume the rights and responsibilities of the position. They can get the big blind, the small blind, or the button. The only place they can not get is a hand between the small blind and the button.
- In Flop games when balancing tables, players will be moved from the big blind to the worst position (which is never the small blind). The table from which a player is moved will be as specified by predetermined procedure. Play will halt on any table that is three or more players short.
- There is no cap on the number of raises in no-limit games. A raise must be at least the size of the previous raise. In Limit events there will be a limit to raises even when heads-up until the tournament is down to two players; the house limit will apply.
- Any single exposed card dealt is designated as the burn card; a miss-deal can be called if more than one card is exposed before the deal is complete.
- If a dealer kills an unprotected hand, the player will have no redress and will not be entitled to a refund of bets. However, if a player had raised and the raise had not yet been called, the raise will be returned to the player.
- Dealers can not kill a winning hand that was tabled and was obviously the winning hand. Players are encouraged to assist in reading tabled hands if it appears that an error is about to be made.
- Verbal declarations in turn are binding; Action out of turn may be binding and will be binding if the action to that player has not changed. A check, call, or fold is not considered action changing.
- A player who exposes his cards with action pending may incur a penalty, but will not have a dead hand. The penalty will begin at the end of the hand.
- In no-limit or pot-limit a raise must be made by (1) placing the full amount in the pot in one motion: or (2) verbally declaring the full amount prior to the initial placement of chips into the pot; or (3) verbally declaring ‘raise’ prior to the placement of the amount to call into the pot and then completing the action with one additional motion.
- Players are entitled to be informed of the pot size in pot-limit games only. Dealers will not count the pot in limit and no-limit games.
- When heads-up the small blind is on the button and acts first. When beginning heads-up play the button may need to be adjusted to ensure that, no player takes the big blind twice in a row.
- At the end of the last round betting, the player who made the last aggressive action in that betting round must show first. If there was no bet the player to the left of the button shows first and so on clockwise.
- Players must remain at the table if they still have action pending on a hand.
- If there is a string raise and no dealer is present, players must call the card room supervisor for a ruling.
- A player must show both cards when playing the board in order to get part of the pot.
- By participating in a poker tournament players consent to participate in such reasonable publicity as Genting shall in its discretion decide, including, press releases, events reports, results listings and press coverage and players further consent to having details of their name and the amount, if any, won by them included in such publicity. This publicity will include postings on Genting Websites, blogs and forums. In the event that the tournament is televised or filmed, players agree to take part in this coverage and acknowledge and agree that they will not receive any payment for this or have any rights over such coverage. Any player wishing to remain anonymous on externally published results must inform the card room manager prior to the event commencing.
House Rules
- Details of the competition start times, Entry, Re-Buys and Registrations can be found on the Card Room notice board or advertised in designated areas.
- A list of players in the competition showing their stakes and re-buys will be displayed for the information of all participants, over a period of at least 24hours from the end of the competition.
- Position to the right of position 1 starts the dealing.
- The best 5 card hand wins. In the event of a tie the pot will be split.
- Player’s are playing with stakes and not for stakes.
- The house reserves the right to alter the ante or prize structure.
- The prize money will be divided on a percentage payout which is calculated by the prize fund and the number of players.
- Additional rules may be posted to cover special circumstances.
- The final winners of the competition will receive all entry stakes and re-buys as prize money, shared out as stipulated by Management before the competition commences. The only exception is where the competition is designated beforehand as a “satellite qualifier” for a further event. Specific rules for such qualifiers will be posted in the Card Room beforehand.
- If for whatever reason the competition has to be prematurely stopped, all monies collected will be distributed at the discretion of the Management. The considerations will be the length of time the competition has been running and the number of players left.
- If a result has not been reached within the time and it is apparent that the competition will not finish “naturally” the players will be informed that a chip count may be required. If this is required, then it will be decided by percentage of chips, pro-rate to remaining prize money.
- The house shall have the right to decide if chips belonging to someone taken ill, or otherwise missing, should be removed from play. Where this applies top someone taken ill, a view will be taken on the following basis: a) Dependant on the likely hood of the player returning to the game b) At the supervisor’s discretion, players who are taken ill may be granted more time to return.
- It is the player’s responsibility to immediately inform the card room personnel if they have been given the wrong number of chips at anytime either at the start of the competition, after re-buy or during a chip race. There will be no re-dress after this time.
- As all the games are table stakes only, a player cannot be bet out of the pot. They may call “all in” and a side pot will be formed with the excess chips.
- When the betting falls to a player, who is “all in”, the action passes to the next active player in the game.
- “All in” means every chip held by the player must go into the pot.
- The playing position for the final table will be decided by a draw.
- No foreign chips table besides one card cap.
- Players are responsible for their own cards. A player is deemed to have passed their cards if:
- The cards touch the discards face down
- The cards are collected and put into the muck by the dealer
- There was an intention that the player verbally or physically gave the impression that they were about to pass their cards
- Over blinds, “straddles” are not permitted in competition play.
- Odd chips after a split pot go to the player(s) nearest the deal clockwise.
- If 2 or more players at the same table are eliminated at the same time, then the player with the most chips will finish in the higher position. If 2 players in contention for a prize winning position are eliminated simultaneously on different tables, then the money will be given to the player with the most chips before the hand began.
- If players incorrectly decide for themselves that they have no hand to beat and discard their cards, they forfeit the pot to the highest hand.
- A re-buy can be made before the first hand of the competition is dealt. Any further re-buys can be made as long as the players stack does not exceed the original starting stack.
- The last 3 hands for re-buys will commence after 90 minutes of play, unless otherwise posted. Players are permitted unlimited re-buys during the re-buy period, unless otherwise posted.
- All players also have the option to make one top up/add on, at the end of the re-buy period, regardless of how many chips they otherwise have left at that time.
- Players must proceed in a clockwise direction. Players must not bet, raise or call out of turn. Rule 28 applies the player who bet out of turn cannot re-raise during that round of betting.
- A forward motion into the pot with chips in a players hand, will count as the whole bet even if a raise is not verbally announced. If the bet is 50% or less than half the previous bet it can only count as a call.
- An under raise is classed as a call, not a raise. To enable a player who has already made or called a bet to again make new action “that is re-raise”. Another player must have made a full raise equal to the previous raise or opening bet.
- Under raises are only permitted if a player is going all in.
- Anyone found cheating will be disqualified from the competition and will forfeit all claims to any prize money. In certain cases Casino membership may also be withdrawn.
- Poker is an individual game. Soft play will result in penalties. Chip dumping will result in disqualification.
- Any player deemed to be disruptive may be subject to a penalty.
- A player can stay away from a table for as long as they wish, the blinds will be posted and cards folded automatically until the player returns or runs out of chips.
- Players announcing the wrong amount of cards before betting will cause all hands to be declared void. Failure to announce the wrong amount of cards before voluntary betting will result in being disqualified from the hand and any stakes entered into the pot returned.
- If player’s cards are turned over accidently, they may remain in the pot, but can only call the bet and cannot raise. However if this rule is abused a penalty may be issued.
- If a player repeatedly acts out of turn, a penalty maybe issued to the player.
- Penalties issued are:
- First offence - warning
- Second offence - dealt out for one complete round
- Third offence - withdrawn from the competition
- After this and for more serious offences the player maybe suspended from the card room or the Casino.
- When a house dealer is provided the dealer always cuts the cards prior to the deal.
- The following are misdeals before any betting:
- More than one card exposed on the initial deal
- Failure to shuffle
- Failure to cut
- Dealing to the wrong player first
- A card going off the table initial deal
- If any flop card, turn card or river card is exposed in error, the following will apply:
- Burnt card remains
- Deal 2nd and 3rd card for the flop face down
- Burn card
- Deal turn card face down
- Burn card
- Re-shuffle, the exposed card back into the deck, and then cut
- Deal the 1st flop card face down without burning anymore cards
- In the event a player has not been given the chance to call/raise a bet before the flop and two or more flop cards have been turned by the dealer, they are out of the hand; otherwise they forfeit their chance to raise if they have already called.
- Tables will not be balanced during the last 3 hands for re-buys. The rest of the time tables will continually be balanced to within one player. When there are two tables remaining and there is one position off the money, the card room supervisor will administer “hand for hand” until the final table positions are decided.
- Speech play is allowable; however no player is allowed to talk about their hand in order to influence another player’s decision to act.
- During and after the completion of the hand, if a player shows their cards to another, they must show all other players. “show one show all”
- Players must remain at the table if they still have action pending on a hand.
- String bets are not allowed. The players initial action is taken as their move of play.
- Players that have not notified the card room supervisor that they wish to be removed from the competition will be included in the competition, anted off and receive cards until they arrive to play.
- Players that have been included in the competition will not be entitled to a refund, and their stake will form part of the prize fund.
- New players/alternates will be allowed to enter the competition after it has started for the whole duration of the re-buy period with the exception of the last 3 hands, on freeze-outs until the end of the last 2 levels.
- New tables will not be added after the draw has taken place to accommodate new players/alternates. A waiting list will be drawn up for new players/alternates.
- New players who join the competition after it has commenced will receive the same number of chips as those players who were there at the start. They will however, post the small and big blind immediately.
- Players may not play in more than one competition at once.
- Players are obligated to protect other players in the tournament at all times. Therefore players whether in the hand or not may not:
- Disclose contents of live or folded hands
- Advise or criticize play before the action is complete
- In either case a repeated offence will lead to a penalty
- In all circumstances the houses decision is final.
