Omaha Hi-Lo shares the same rules as Omaha, however there are two ways to win a share of the pot.
The Pot is equally split, with half up for grabs for the High hand and half available for the best Low hand. The High hand winner is the player with the best poker hand, exactly the same as in Omaha. The Low hand winner is the player with the ‘best Low hand’.
So what constitutes as Low Hand?
The Low hand is a hand which has 5 different cards (no pairs, trips or quads) below 9. Again the player must form a hand using two hole cards and 3 community cards, but the cards used can be different to the cards used in the High Hand.
For example, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8 of any suit would be a low hand. The lowest Low hand is the best Low hand. So Ace, 2, 3, 4, 5 is the best Low hand, as it has five different cards, and the highest of those cards is the 5. Ace counts as one in a low hand.
